Today marks exactly one year since the passing of The Late Queen Elizabeth II on 8th September 2022 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
We were incredibly honoured to have met Queen Elizabeth II on a number of occasions. We also presented her with bespoke rocking horses to mark milestones in her reign and important occasions in her life.
We also hold many happy memories of seeing our beloved monarch at RHS Chelsea Flower Show over the years. She had been Patron of the society since 1952 and the show was a highlight of her annual calendar. As was the Royal Windsor Horse show, which she always attended.
When people talk about meeting The Queen, they say how very special it was but it’s difficult to really get across what the experience was actually like.
Queen Elizabeth II was most at home in the countryside, loved being at her home in Windsor Castle and walking the grounds of Balmoral Castle, her Scottish residence. She absolutely loved her horses and her dogs. She was passionate about British wildlife and the protection of our environment.
She was welcoming, kind and incredibly interested in the stories of those around her. Always asking questions with genuine curiosity and truly listening to the answers. A wonderful leader and an incredible person who led a truly extraordinary life of service and devotion.
To mark the date of her passing, we shared photos from our archives on social media. Each photo was shared alongside a quote from Queen Elizabeth II so we can remember her words.
