What an absolute pleasure it was to create this beautiful Fjord horse for the Haig-Thomas family home in Wales. Commissioned by brothers David & Hugo, they hope that this stunning rocking horse will inspire a love of horses in future generations of their family. Their wish is for this rocking horse to be enjoyed for many years, by riders of all ages. An incredible lasting legacy and a truly magnificent gift.

We created this Fjord Horse with a kind, soft expression. He is finished in a very light paint colour which allows the grain of the Oak to show through perfectly. We also made a rather unique mane for this piece along with zebra style hand-painted stripes on the legs.

We hand-embroidered the family crest onto the navy saddlecloth and added two engraved plaques.

David & Hugo Haig-Thomas are the nephews of Rex Haig-Thomas who was a great friend of our rocking horse making Uncle James in 1950s Kenya. What a delight for one pair of nephews to make such a unique and special rocking horse for another pair of nephews 70 years later - rock on!

Below, more detailed photos of the completed rocking horse, taken in the yard of our workshop on a beautiful Summer day before this horse was delivered to the Haig-Thomas family.
