Stars Rocking Auction

25/11/2013

A collection of celebrities, designers and artists customised a Stevenson Brothers rocking horse for a charity auction in aid of CHIVA Africa which took place at Sotheby’s last Thursday evening (14th November). These stunning and completely one-of-a-kind pieces were sold at the famous auction house to raise funds for the charity.

The stars involved in the project included Joanna Lumley, Dame Judi Dench, Julien Macdonald & Melissa Obadash, Nicky Clarke & Kelly Simpkin, Stephen Webster, Kelly Hoppen, Maureen Lipman and more.

The celebrities and artists worked with Stevenson Brothers and CHIVA Africa to create unique one-off pieces for the auction to raise funds for the South African based Aids education charity.

The bestseller of the evening was the rocking unicorn designed by Dame Judi Dench which sold for £23,000 and Dame Judi Dench was thrilled with the news that her creation (named SMOW) had raised such a fantastic amount.

The evening was introduced by actress and writer Maureen Lipman and, as well as being a fabulous event, also helped to raise awareness of the charity and the work they do in South Africa.
